This gentle, lilting tune comes from Offenbach's opera Tales of Hoffman which tells the tales of the bizarre adventures of the eponymous German poet and his tragic quest for love. The tune is sung by the guests at a party held by the courtesan Giulietta who ends up tricking Hoffman, stealing his reflection ... and his soul.
