text  back to top

The site is designed with an easy to see colour scheme, with all text displayed in an easy to read font type, size and colour.

All images and buttons have alternative 'alt' descriptions that can be read by screen readers.

Cascading style sheets (CSS) are used to set the colour and size of text on many of our pages. This formatting can be overridden:

• Internet Explorer

- select Tools, Internet Options, Accessibility, then click required options e.g. Ignore font sizes
- the settings in View - Text Size can now be used to adjust the size of text displayed

• Firefox

- select Tools, Options, Content, Fonts & Colours. Click Advanced or Colours and specify your text and colour preferences. Uncheck the 'Allow pages to choose their own font/colours...' checkbox.
- the settings in View, Text Size can also be used to adjust the size of the text displayed

navigation  back to top

We work hard to make sure our content is easy to read and easy to navigate, taking into consideration customers who use a variety of assisted technologies.

A site map has been provided to make finding your way around easier.

Some browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. In Windows you can press the 'alt' key together with the access key. On an Apple Macintosh you can press 'ctrl' and the access key.

browser  back to top

We have tried to ensure that the pages can be accessed by all users, no matter which browser is being used.

If you visit these pages using an older browser, you may see a message urging you to check the help pages for compatibility. Whilst you may still access the site, to see the pages laid out correctly you will require a newer, standards compliant browser.

If you would like to upgrade your browser we recommend the latest free versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Netscape. Max OS X users may also consider Safari.

colour blindness  back to top

We have checked the site's font and colour combinations against the different colour blindness conditions to ensure that all the information is still clear.
