wedding favourites

wedding rings We have listed below some favourites from our catalogue to help you select the music for wedding ceremonies, both church and civil.

church ceremony

There are no legal constraints about what may be played in church but you will find that many churches have a recommended list of 'suitable' music. Your clients may wish to check first with the minister concerned.

Here are some suggestions from our catalogue for the various sections of the ceremony:

• prelude

Andante from Violin Concerto Op.64 (Mendelssohn)
  Ave Maria (Caccini)
  Canon (Pachelbel)
Get Me To The Church On Time (Loewe)
  Nimrod (Elgar)

• entrance processional and exit recessional

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (Handel)
  Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin (Wagner)
  Prince of Denmark's March (Clarke)
  Trumpet Voluntary (Stanley)
  Trumpet Tune (Purcell)
  Wedding March (Mendelssohn) (exit only)

• signing of the register

Air from Orchestral Suite No.3 (Bach)
  Canon (Pachelbel)
  Intermezzo (Mascagni)
  Sarabande (Handel)
  Sheep May Safely Graze (Bach)
Slow movement from Double Violin Concerto (Bach)

civil ceremony

In principle any non-religious music is allowed. However, the registrar will have the final say and might want to ensure that the music is in keeping with the tone of the occasion.

Most of the music listed above for church ceremonies is suitable. Additionally, here are some romantic suggestions from the jazz, pop and show sections of our catalogue:
